Brian Duffield is a screenwriter to watch for sure! Two of his original spec screenplays made the Black List: Your Bridesmaid is a Bitch and Jane Got a Gun (with Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton – currently on Netflix), putting him on the 10 Screenwriters to Watch list in 2013. You might also know him from his work on the franchise film Insurgent or his most recent work, a Netflix original titled The Babysitter, directed by McG.
In his interview with Script Shadow, Brian talks about lots of things beginning screenwriters may find interesting: finding an agent/manager, how he became interested in the art and craft of screenwriting and what makes comedy work (and what doesn’t work!) He also discusses the structure of stories and how you can accelerate your own success in this very competitive industry.
